Presentation

This 1977 Porsche 911S has been comprehensively backdated and modified, headlined by a 3.2-liter flat-six conversion and a long-hood transformation of its mid-year body. Acquired by the current owner in 2021, it underwent an approximately two-year build by Automobile Associates of Canton, Ohio, that included a repaint in Mexico Blue, ST-style steel fender flares, a sunroof delete, 15" Fuchs wheels with gold centers, and full-body paint protection film. Further upgrades include a rebuilt 5-speed manual transaxle, Motronic DME with a performance ECU, a Dansk sport muffler, stainless steel brake lines, enhanced cooling, adjustable struts and rear sway bar, sport seats re-trimmed in black vinyl with tartan inserts, a roll bar, a VDM steering wheel, and more. Finished in Mexico Blue over a custom black interior, this 911 restomod is now being offered for auction on dealer consignment in Arizona.

The car was fitted with a long-hood conversion, a sunroof-delete panel, and ST-style steel fender flares before being repainted Mexico Blue during the build. Fiberglass bumpers were installed along with black Porsche graphics, Hella driving lights, Euro-style taillights, and H4 headlights, and paint protection film has been applied to the entire body. The car rides on 15" Fuchs wheels with gold centers measuring 8" wide in front and 9" in the rear, mounted with Michelin TB15+ tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features a custom black vinyl interior with tartan cloth inserts, with the front sport seats re-trimmed to match and the rear seats deleted. The door panels were rebuilt, and modifications include a roll bar, Recaro seat sliders, a rebuilt glovebox, Coco mats, and a Bluetooth stereo with a dash-mounted speaker. A three-spoke VDM steering wheel frames the rebuilt and backdated VDO instrumentation. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero during the restoration and now indicates approximately 4k miles.

The 3.2-liter air-cooled flat-six was installed under previous ownership and runs Motronic DME engine management that was rebuilt during the 2022–2023 work, along with a performance ECU and a Dansk sport muffler. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt with replacement synchro rings. The build also included drilled brake rotors, a replacement brake master cylinder, booster, calipers, and pads, stainless-steel brake lines, adjustable struts, and an adjustable rear sway bar. Additional equipment includes a 100-liter fuel tank, an oil cooler housed in the right front fender, an oil cooler adapter kit, a ceramic-coated cooling fan, a front-axle skid plate, fog lights, and an AGM battery installed in 2025. The chassis was cleaned using dry ice during the build.

This sale will include the owner's manual, a build book documenting the restoration, service records, and a clean title.

@sportscarguy3. With respect, I strongly disagree with you. I agree with @jwestracing and he is probably a little low. I think you are confusing what it costs to build a car like this vs what the market valued it at yesterday. Perhaps you are not familiar with the parts and labor costs to build such a car in today's economy. This is a nice build and a lot of effort went into body gaps, underside finishes as well as the frunk and engine bay and bodywork and paint work. Backdating a G body to a long hood is not as simple as it looks. You can easily spend close to 100 hours just to get the hood, front fenders, flares, bumper, turn signals, headlights, horn grilles and weatherstrip pieces all to fit as well as this car. Here is a simple breakdown of costs.
1- Rust free donor G body 911 --- $50K
2- Body parts for longhood conversion --- $8-10k
3- 3.2 Engine and aluminum 915 tranny with minimum "freshen up" --- $30-40k
4-Bodyshop and paint supplies -- easily $5-7K
5- Wheels and tires --$6k
6- Interior with new seats-- $5-10k
7- Electrical systems gauges etc.-- $3k
8- Suspension and brake systems -- $4k
So, just the parts and supplies alone will be at least $130k.
Labor ---- Porsche shops capable of this build quality will be anywhere from $150-$250/hour (yes, I checked current rates). Lets use $200/hour as a middle figure. To be at $250k total build costs that leaves ---- $250k - 130k or $120k for labor. At $200/hr that is 600 hours. I can assure you that this build was way greater than 600 hours.
Not to mention the time the owner (presumably) spent coordinating the build, shuffling the car around to various shops, finding parts and tying up his capital for a few years. So, when you stated that this build could be done for " much much less than what jwestracing was suggesting" I think you are not seeing the whole picture here. Just my 2 cents.

Build estimate. / built motor . ( again, voice to text kills me )
Congratulations to the buyer and the seller
Enjoy this good looking Porsche,

As I stated earlier, I am not a professional Builder, but I am a longtime Porsche fan and have owned many different Porsches over the years
While this is a good looking Porsche,, obviously, you could certainly find a lot more Porsche, for $200,000
Perhaps not backdated in this particular fashion, but again as I mentioned to this one comment about his $250,000 bill estimate, it’s a 3.2 Porsche, motor not a belt motor nothing special about it easily sourced
Again, very handsome Porsche and I wish the buyer and seller congratulations

@jwestracing . Sir, honestly, I don’t agree with your estimated cost to build.
It’s a basic motor 3.2. It’s not a custom motor really easily sourced easily installed.
The exterior while clean and nicely done for sure, wheel, wells, etc., etc. isn’t anything too costly
The interior is bare bones no sports seats really the Tarian inserts as I mentioned aren’t my favorite anyway, and are easily sourced
I think the reserve on this car is well above its value
But again, I’m not a builder. I’m just an owner and fan and sharing my thoughts.
I think this bill could be done for much less than your suggesting much much less

$25,000 delta is pretty substantial……….. the market is saying this car / this build is worth $200. Does @seller want to sell it??????

Seems like there could be a better way to hold an auction and inform bidders when a reserve hasn’t been met. RobCM75 made a great offer and real value is what someone is willing to pay.

Clean Porsche, back date, obviously
And everyone has their own personal taste on color and any interior changes or modifications and I’ll just add my two cents worth as a long time Porsche owner and fan
The attention to the exterior wheel wells and detail is impressive and that’s why it’s hard for me to understand why anyone would put those two floodlights fog lights running lights whatever you wanna call them on the upper portion of that beautifully sloped hood
I would be the first thing I would change get those lights down underneath the bumper so they don’t detract from the incredible look of that front end
Next the Porsche, graphics on the rear engine compartment and lower sides of each door
Yes, somewhat classic, Porsche decals, but with a paint job like this and body lines like this I don’t think they’re necessary and hopefully they could be easily removed
Lastly, the Tarian inserts on the seats, never been a fan
These are criticisms. These are just personal observations and comments.
And regardless of my thoughts, this Car will do very well here. I’m sure as it already has started to do.
Good luck all

@Andersenrandy Heat works great, especially right now here in Scottsdale! You are correct, this would be a great candidate for an electric AC system. I am not sure about the seats, but I do know that they are extremely comfortable. Our client had this car commissioned for rallies and has done the Ramshorn Rally. This has been a very good car for him and it's been a proven quality rally car that could win most car shows.

How well does the heat work? Would this car be a good candidate for traditional or electric air conditioning? You mentioned Recaro seat sliders? Do you know the brand of the sport seats? How come you are selling such a nice, will-sorted car after you put all that work into it?
