@Juansilen the car registered in the us state department as a diplomatic vehicle, if the car is sold i will obtain a title from the state department in the buyer’s name, and he/she can either register it in their local DMV and register it to be exported, I am not sure about exporting to Maxico.

Does the car have a U.S. title, or is it being sold with registration only? Can it be exported and titled in Mexico?

To my understanding, I am the third owner. When I purchased the car in 2020, the listing stated that it was being sold by the second owner, who had owned it since 1999. I still have that original advertisement and will attach it here.

I was also surprised to see the latest CARFAX showing me as the fourth owner. If you look closely, it only has three ownership columns, with the first and second owners grouped together, the third owner in the next column, and myself in the last column. My best guess is that this may be due to a dual registration at some point, or perhaps the first owner briefly transferred the car through a dealership before selling it. Honestly, I don’t know why CARFAX lists me as the fourth owner.

I also want to address the mileage inconsistency noted on the CARFAX. This was simply the result of a Goodyear dealership entering the mileage incorrectly during a tire replacement. It was a data entry mistake and not an actual mileage discrepancy.

Regarding the export/import history, I don’t believe it affected the ownership record. The car has been registered in my name throughout my ownership. It is not registered through the DMV but as a diplomatic vehicle through the U.S. Department of State. When the car is sold, I will obtain a title from the Department of State in the buyer’s name, and they can then register it with their local DMV just like any other vehicle.

As for the recent inspection, Porsche Arlington provided an estimate of approximately $13,000 in recommended repairs. After reviewing the report with my independent mechanic, his advice was simple: don’t rush to do anything—just drive and enjoy the car. Dealerships tend to recommend every item they can find, regardless of whether it requires immediate attention.

I actually learned this lesson back in 2021, when I spent a significant amount of money bringing the car as close to “like new” as possible. Looking back, I realized it’s much more practical to maintain these cars over time rather than trying to address every recommendation at once. My mechanic agreed and told me the car is mechanically solid and in very good condition. His advice was to simply enjoy it and address anything only if it actually becomes necessary.

For example, the inspection mentions minor engine oil sweating. My mechanic considers this completely normal for a 30-year-old air-cooled Porsche. There are no oil leaks on the garage floor, and even when inspecting the underside of the engine, I don’t see any significant oil seepage. I’m happy to provide detailed photos and videos of the underside for anyone who would like to see it.

The report also notes the door seals. I actually replaced them with brand-new genuine Porsche seals, but I didn’t like how the doors closed afterward. Anyone familiar with these cars knows that new seals often require time to compress before the doors close properly with the sounds that every classic porsche owner likes. I preferred the original feel, so I reinstalled the original seals. New genuine seals cost roughly $500 if a future owner prefers to install them.

Regarding the suspension, I had the car inspected and aligned in Kuwait just before shipping it back to the United States at the end of 2023. I have the invoice showing the inspection and alignment measurements.

The only item I might look into at some point is the air conditioning. I replaced the compressor and had the system checked for leaks, and none were found. My assumption is that one of the HVAC servos—possibly the fresh-air/recirculation servo—may need replacement. It’s not an expensive repair; I simply haven’t had the time to address it, I had the mechanic recharge it last summer and it was fine.

Overall, the car is in excellent condition and is mechanically very solid. I can confidently say there are no oil leaks, it drives beautifully.

1. Unfortunately, I don’t have the complete invoices for the top-end engine work because all of that work was performed in Kuwait. I do have many of the invoices for the parts that were ordered, and some additional parts were sourced through my mechanic here in Virginia, Jose at Autobahn Service, Inc. I’ll check with him to see if he still has any of the related invoices.
After I purchased the car in 2020, I had a comprehensive inspection performed by Intersport in Virginia. I still have that inspection report and would be happy to share it with you. All of the recommendations from that inspection were completed in Kuwait. More recently, I also had the car inspected at Porsche Arlington, and I can share that inspection report as well.
2. Regarding the engine, the car has no oil leaks and no compression issues. However, because I don’t have the detailed repair records from Kuwait, I can’t confirm with certainty whether the valve guides were replaced during the top-end work.
3. The car was repainted simply to refresh the original 30-year-old finish. Before the repaint, it had some older cosmetic paintwork and areas where the clear coat had begun to deteriorate, which is not uncommon on a car of this age. The repaint was not the result of an accident or rust repair, the car has never been involved in an accident and is completely rust-free.
4. The airbag warning light comes on briefly when the car is started and then goes out after approximately two to three minutes. This began after I replaced the dashboard, so I believe the system may simply need to be reset.
5. Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition with no known issues or oil leaks. The only item I’ve noticed is that the air conditioning isn’t cooling as well as it should. Last summer, I had Autobahn Service inspect the system for leaks, and they found none. They recharged the A/C, and it worked properly afterward. The car was then stored in the garage over the winter, and when I checked it again this summer, it appears it may simply need another recharge.

1. Can you share the complete 2021 engine top-end/reseal invoices, including whether the valve guides were replaced and any compression or leak-down results?
2. What prompted the full repaint, and was there any prior collision, rust, or body repair beyond normal cosmetic wear?
3. Is the airbag warning light currently on, and are there any other known mechanical issues, oil leaks, or upcoming maintenance needs?
