Auction Rules

Bidding, reserve, and auction closing

Each auction has a clear current bid, bid history, countdown timer, and reserve/no-reserve status.

Binding bids: bids should be treated as serious purchase commitments.
Reserve auctions: the vehicle sells only if bidding reaches the seller’s reserve price.
No Reserve: the highest bidder wins regardless of final price.
Anti-sniping: if a bid is placed in the final minutes, the auction may extend automatically.
Outbid notices: bidders may receive notifications when another bidder exceeds their bid.
Fees

Buyer premium and seller terms

The final fee structure can be adjusted before launch. For the MVP, we use a simple buyer premium model.

Buyer Premium 5%
Minimum Buyer Fee $500
Maximum Buyer Fee $7,500
Seller Fee No seller fee during launch period
Auction Timeline

Typical auction flow

The exact timeline can vary depending on the vehicle, seller, documentation, and auction schedule.

Step 1

Vehicle submitted

The seller submits details, photos, documents, reserve expectations, and vehicle history.

Step 2

Listing prepared

ABSCARS Market reviews the information and prepares a professional listing page.

Step 3

Auction live

The auction runs publicly with bidding, comments, questions, countdown timer, and bid history.

Step 4

End of auction

If reserve is met or it is a no-reserve auction, the highest bidder wins. If reserve is not met, post-auction offers may be considered.

Step 5

Transaction support

Buyer and seller are connected. Shipping, export documentation, and logistics support may be coordinated separately.

After Auction

Reserve not met / post-auction offers

If a vehicle does not meet reserve, it may still be available. Qualified buyers can submit a serious post-auction offer.

High bid: the highest auction bid is visible as a market reference.
Make offer: buyers can submit serious offers for seller review.
Seller response: the seller can accept, reject, or counter.
Transaction: if both parties agree, the sale can proceed after the auction.

Worldwide shipping: inland transport and overseas shipping quotes may be arranged.
Export documents: sellers may provide export paperwork where available.
Nearest port: listings can include the closest shipping port.
Buyer responsibility: buyers must verify import eligibility, customs duties, VAT, and local registration rules.
