Beginning with a new 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT, this handcrafted Ferrari 512 BBi replica was commissioned by its original owner through the Corson Motorcar Company. Reportedly the 17th example produced out of 77 Corson kits in total, the car is powered by a mid-mounted 2.8-liter L44 V6 engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and features several authentic Ferrari-sourced body components along with 16” Compomotive multi-piece wheels with faux knock-off spinners. Having been under the care of its second owner for approximately one year, this rare Corson-built 512 BBi replica is now being offered for auction in New York. Finished in red, the fiberglass bodywork is styled after the Pininfarina-designed Ferrari 512 BBi and features front and rear clamshell body sections, side-mounted NACA ducts, a black center-mounted rear spoiler, and a louvered double-hump engine cover. Additional exterior details include silver nose vents flanked by pop-up headlights, rectangular front driving lights, a removable sunroof panel, and quad exhaust outlets. Several authentic Ferrari components have reportedly been incorporated, including the amber front lenses, badging, side mirrors, door handles, taillights, and side marker lights. The car rides on 16” Compomotive multi-piece wheels with faux knock-off spinners. The seller states the rear tires are new, while the front tires retain approximately 75% tread depth. The paint is described as being in very good overall condition apart from minor stone chips. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The grey interior features custom diamond-stitched lower seat upholstery, Ferrari emblems on the seat backrests, Ferrari-branded floor mats, a black three-spoke steering wheel with a Ferrari center emblem, a custom upper dashboard, added cupholders, and a modified shifter console. Additional equipment includes power windows, climate controls, a Pioneer CD stereo, and a rear storage compartment positioned between the seats. The seller notes the air conditioning compressor requires replacement, and the temperature gauge is currently inoperative.
Power comes from a mid-mounted 2.8-liter L44 V6 engine factory-rated at 135 HP and 165 lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The car features four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes at each corner. Recent service is said to have included an oil change along with the replacement of various sensors and relays. The seller adds that the catalytic converter has been removed and will accompany the sale.
This sale will include the original catalytic converter and a clean title denoting it as a 1987 Pontiac Fiero.
