1965 Jaguar XK-E Series I 4.2 Roadster 4-Speed

Constructed using methods derived from the Le Mans-winning D-Type race car, the Jaguar E-Type is said to have been called "the most beautiful car ever made" by Enzo Ferrari. This 1965 Series I Open Two-Seater Roadster is finished in Charcoal Grey over red leather upholstery and carries a replacement 4.2-liter inline-six sourced from a Series 1.5 car, paired with its original 4-speed manual gearbox. Previously refinished in Charcoal Grey, this Series I features a black canvas soft top, split chrome bumpers, bright trim, glass headlight covers, clear side marker lights, and a vented bonnet with outside latches and welded louvers. It rides on 15" chrome knock-off wire wheels dressed in older redline tires that the seller recommends replacing. The seller notes that several chrome trim pieces have been replaced, that one flaw is present on the hood, and that a black-finished removable hardtop requiring refurbishment is included.
The cabin presents red leather upholstery with matching door panels and carpets, described by the seller as being in excellent, like-new condition following the restoration. A contrasting black dashboard houses Smiths instrumentation, a suite of centrally mounted toggle switches and gauges, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller confirms that all gauges and accessories are in proper working order.
Beneath the bonnet lies a replacement 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six sourced from a Series 1.5 car, fitted with triple SU carburetors and delivering up to 265 HP to the rear wheels through the original 4-speed manual transmission. Standard features include independent coil-spring rear suspension and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The seller states the car was placed into storage in 1995 with fresh oil and a fully drained fuel system, and that the recent recommissioning included fluid changes, a rebuild of the three SU carburetors, a new radiator expansion tank, new steering column bearings, spark plugs, and a new battery. The seller adds that the car now runs and drives well, and that, as it has not been driven since, the next owner will want to go through it to their own satisfaction.
This sale will include a clean title, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

@V12308911 Nothing definitive as I do not have a Jaguar heritage certificate, however, there is no indication anywhere that it was ever a different color.

@spring2010 Yes, we recommissioned the car in late 2024 and it has been in storage and started monthly since. The car was not registered as the owner lives in Northern Maine and does not intend to use it there. It is in my warehouse in North Andover Massachusetts covered and on a tender.
