Presentation

This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette split-window coupe is powered by a 327ci L76 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission and was originally specified in Daytona Blue with a color-coordinated interior. Equipment includes 15″ turbine-style wheels with three-eared knock-off spinners, a Positraction differential, an AM/FM radio, and concealed headlights. This C2 split-window coupe was purchased by the current owner in 2024 and is now offered on dealer consignment in Colorado with a window sticker photocopy and a clean Montana title.

The fiberglass body was finished at the factory in Daytona Blue (916) and has been repainted. Features flip-up headlamps, fender vents, quad tail lamps, chrome bumperettes, and dual exhaust tips that exit through the rear valance. There is a ding in the passenger vent window trim and hazing in the paint underneath the rear bumperettes.

The 15″ turbine-style wheels wear three-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 7.75-15 Goodyear Power Cushion thin whitewall tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.

The cabin features two bucket seats upholstered in Dark Blue vinyl as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include an AM/FM radio, a heater, an analog clock, and lap belts. An imperfection on the headliner is shown in the gallery.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 32k miles, less than 100 of which were added under current ownership. The tachometer cable has been replaced, and the clock and trip odometer do not work.

The 327ci L76 V8 was equipped from the factory with a single four-barrel carburetor and a high-lift camshaft for a factory rating of 340 horsepower. The carburetor is said to have been rebuilt.

Not only have I seen this car in person but I can verify that is it truely a wonderful restoration based on how it drives and how it presents. This car not only has a lot of merit by being born in a desirable color combo and driveline, but this car has the DNA to go through the NCRS/Bloomington Gold program and do well. This color combo is one of the best Chevrolet offered in 1963 and this car is truely striking in person.

Hi 1Buffalo, we have limited information on the engine re-furbishment other than what is noted in the IAAA report page 6 and page 8. He notes that the engine exhibits no smoke, starts quickly, has a slightly lopey idle (consistent with performance cam), no engine noises, no misfires or valve noise & it exhibits a significant amount of power. popping a center cap off a wheel and seeing pins would tell you immediately they are likely repros. Not all repros used the pins though most did. Original K-H 63 knockoffs had only 2 spinners, are so rare and would probably command 100k.

Neon lights on the wall with a thick clear coat over Daytona blue with metallic flakes will reflect differently inside. I think that’s what we’re seeing on most of the indoor shots.

I did think it was quite odd that a car of this quality had not been judged and or certified in any way either from the original builder or the subsequent owners afterwards. You don’t see that very often from a car that presents itself this well. Not sure what to make of it. Maybe just owners enjoying the car and not interested in the car show scene. IDK.

Such a nice looking sport coupe here. If in fact this was actually painted in the original 916A Daytona Blue, the photography doesn’t do it justice. Half the photos look correct but the other half present it multiple shades lighter. One would have to see it first hand to be confident. The appraiser indicates that the engine “appears” to be original and correct. A Corvette of this stature really deserves CCAS authentication to draw really strong bidder interest, particularly given the questions raised about the window sticker. All that said, it will no doubt make someone happy if the reserve is reasonable.

We have added the IAAA inspection/appraisal report from 2024. Please note that on page 5 the inspector has indicated that the vehicle was refinished in original code 916A Daytona Blue. Also, page 3 shows a few items inop. Those items now work with the exception of the clock. Hope this helps in your decision making. Thanks!

I also had Wininvoces do my window sticker and Dealer invoice. He is very knowledgeable and has a lot of information regarding all questions and is a pleasure to work with. My window sticker does have a 6 digit number in the upper right corner that does appear on my GM Shipping document from NCRS. Beautiful car should end very well for the seller GLWA.

Winvoices reproduces all the window stickers and tank stickers , he is authorized by GM to reproduce tank stickers etc look on his website he ages paper as well , he did my tank sticker after it was verified by ncrs , they are typically for show.

@oaibob - I asked some reliable sources and here is what I found. The shipping sequence number or production control number is often rubber-stamped or typed near the top right of most original 1963 window stickers, however , Not every surviving original sticker has that number.Some plants or clerks omitted it. Some stickers lost it due to fading, water damage, or light stamping. And The stamp was often applied separately from the printed sticker. So some have the six digit numbers and some apparently do not. As for the radio, while you are correct about the intro of the am/fm in Feb, it’s not clear when it became completely standard and there doesn’t seem to be much supporting data for when it did. So seems to me to be plausible this is a correct. The couple people I spoke to believe the window sticker has a high likelihood of being original. But you should not take my findings as gospel. Again, GM strikes again with incredible inconsistencies. Hope this helps.

@oaibob - I am not even close to being an authority on this. I have been relying on others to help educate me. But if you compare it to the window sticker on the other similar more documented SWC on auction, it does appear to be different in a couple ways. But as I have become to learn, GM was never very good with consistency. Hopefully someone chimes in with some higher quality insight.

Snlgrimmett, since you brought this up, I had privately messaged the seller about the window sticker last week and pointed out my concerns about it and if stated as real and it is not, how that can taint an otherwise great presentation. I did not get a response. Please let me know your thoughts. I believe it should have the 6 digit production number in the top right corner. Additionally, it states a 2U65A Signal Seeking Radio. The U69 AM/FM became available in late February and as I recall, became the standard radio option in late April/early May. This car is very late in production August car and I'm not sure you could order an AM only radio. Just my amateur opinion which everyone knows how that is. Please let me know if I am incorrect and I shall apologize profusely.

I noticed it appears this car has 64 style metal headlight buckets instead of fiberglass. Late 63 cars were actually equipped with the new style. Since this is a very late build, this should be correct on this car. I agree the paint looks much lighter even compared to the other car currently listed. However, I would note the interior also looks much lighter than dark blue so I would agree the lighting may have thrown off the colors. Just my thoughts.

SnlGrimmett, thank you for your questions. We have limited information on the restoration. However, our consignor had the vehicle assessed before purchase in 2024 by a certified classic car inspector (IAAA). He stated that the vehicle maintains the original correctly stamped engine, transmission, and rear differential. Also, that the vast majority of components are either correct restored original, original, or correct replacement. Mechanically the engine and transmission (& clutch) function as designed. He gave an overall “excellent” rating to paint, glass, stainless, chrome, emblems, doors, fenders, quarters, engine compartment, wheels, grilles, hood, interior, floors, mechanical components, & electrical components. Date of restoration is unknown. You are always welcome to have it inspected if you would like. Hope this information helps!

Thank you for your questions about the color of the Corvette. The vehicle has been refinished in original code 916A Daytona Blue. The paint is in excellent shape, uniform and buffed to a mirror gloss. We had professional pictures taken in a variety of lighting conditions (inside & out) to reflect this. Thx!
