2007 W3-Triposto by Wingho Auto Classique Inc.
Presentation
An exceptional creation by Dr. Clyde Kwok, founder of Wingho Auto and professor of aerodynamics and mechanical engineering, the W3-Triposto made its public debut at the 1999 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. Developed over more than three years from concept to completion, the W3-Triposto represents the third experimental exotic sports car created by Wingho Auto, following the Spexter and 928 Spyder. Built upon a heavily modified 1990 Porsche 964 chassis, the Triposto incorporates bespoke composite bodywork, upgraded suspension and braking systems, a specially tuned 3.6-liter engine, and a distinctive center-seat three-passenger configuration. Extensive chassis modifications reportedly lowered the center of gravity, increased structural rigidity, and reduced overall weight. Described by its creator as a stylistic tribute inspired by the Porsche 718 RSK, the design blends recognizable Porsche cues with a raw, driver-focused experience evocative of the marque’s early competition cars. Representing the first fully developed production version of the W3-Triposto, this remarkably rare and meticulously engineered three-seat roadster was acquired by the seller here on PCARMARKET, subsequently imported to the United States, and is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
Constructed from fiberglass, Kevlar, and carbon fiber, the composite bodywork was fabricated by Francis Cardolle of Carosserie CF, and paired with the modified 964 chassis at the Wingho Atelier in St-Mathieu de Beloeil. The Triposto features opening front and rear sections, pushbutton-operated swing-wing doors, Porsche 993 headlights, Ducati mirrors, a short front windscreen with a single wiper, and a large central intake buttress which also acts as a headrest for the driver. It rides on MOMO modular racing wheels sized 18” front and 19” rear, dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Molded into the composite bodywork is a centrally located driver’s seat flanked by two slightly receded passenger seats, a configuration similar to that of the McLaren F1 road car. The seats feature integrated safety belts and are strategically lined with customized black leather padding. Ahead of the driver sits a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel and a clamshell instrument cluster housing an array of Porsche gauges. The dashboard is trimmed in black leather with red stitching and contains ergonomic switches and vehicle controls all within easy access to the driver.
Power comes from a 964-derived 3.6L flat-six air-cooled engine paired with a G50 5-speed manual transaxle. The engine has been refreshed and equipped with a B&B exhaust system, front-mounted oil cooler, fuel cell, and a custom performance tune providing more aggressive ignition and fuel mapping. A claimed output of nearly 300 HP is delivered to the rear wheels. The lowered and stiffened 964 chassis is equipped with adjustable Koni suspension and upgraded brakes with large four-piston Brembo front calipers clamping down on 13” ventilated brake discs. Routine service has been kept up to date by Wingho Auto, and the seller has reported no outstanding maintenance items. The car has been driven less than 2k miles since completion.
This sale will include a salvage title along with a CARFAX report indicating an accident prior to the 1998 build and the previous issuance of a branded title. Offering a driving experience often compared to that of a motorcycle or Formula-style race car, the center-seat Triposto places the driver at the heart of the experience, delivering an extraordinary sense of connection to the road. Unlike virtually any other air-cooled sports car, this creation from Wingho Auto combines radical engineering with analog purity, making it a compelling proposition for the dedicated driving enthusiast.

@Chupee - Correct. If the final bid number is not in line with the seller's idea of what the car should sell for, you can discuss the "buy it now" price with them. Good Luck!

@Chupee @jibsurf It was imported from Canada and professionally built using a solid, undamaged chassis from another Porsche 911. Because the donor vehicle carried a salvage history, my Florida title remains branded as Salvage. The car is fully titled and road registered in Florida, and I'm happy to answer any additional questions.

It it currently titled and registered in Florida? How does it appear on the Florida title (2007 or 1990)? Does it have a Florida title/registration? and how is its current Florida title characterized (salvage)?
Beautiful car!

@Chupee I think the donor chassis was in the accident given the date of the accident. The car looks like it was built on that donor chassis.
