Thank you for your quick reply. Knowing an Italian firm of note did the resto work, I would bet the Superleggera corrosion issue was addressed, if required at all. An Italian firm would surely know this. Were I in the market, I wouldn't hesitate to bid on this one. GLWTA!
Good question. There can be a corrosive galvanic reaction between the Superleggera touch points between the steel frame and aluminum parts like body panels. Usually, just felt pads keep the two metals apart. AM DB car restoration 101. GLWTA!
Quite possibly the most beautiful Italian Grand Touring Coupe of the late '60s early '70s. The Giorgetto Giugiaro design looks sophisticated and sexy from every angle, IMHO. The only loser in the Ghibli debut was the nearly synchronous debut of the Mistral which, while very good looking car, was just completely overshadowed by the Ghibli. It took a couple of decades for the Mistral to be recognized as the very worthy car it was.
Side Note: I think the first time I saw a Ghibli was when one was featured on the old Odd Couple TV show. The owner of a Chinese restaurant had it and conned Oscar into investing in the restaurant so he could afford one too. Well, the restaurant went bust, Oscar lost his money, but the car's beautiful lines were branded in my brain... GLWTA!
If you want to reduce an Italian car to a data sheet of performance specs and driving characteristics, basically the 'literal" aspects, you're missing the point. You are probably correct on the data sheet items, but there is more to the picture. Just look at the comments so far. They focus on the beauty of the car, the sound of the car and how it makes them feel. Sort of like looking at a painting that draws you in and evokes emotions and senses.
I see you have an interest in Mercedes cars, which explains a lot. I totally get it if you're not into cars like this one. But, the things that others appreciate are important to them. The Mercedes may be like the girl you marry, but this one is the one you spent that weekend with that still stirs your soul and can never be forgotten... GLWTA!

These were very highly regarded cars. They were very advanced for their time being air cooled. That was aircraft technology then. When everyone else was fretting about their radiators boiling over, this one was buzzing along on a breeze! GLWTA!
Gents, do check out the Alvis website I posted below. This hand made continuation model sells for just South of half a million dollars American. And a real one can't pop $40 grand? Silly.
I didn't realize when I just posted the link to the Alvis continuation car website that this very model can be had new with the series. Must be a new add. It is insanely expensive and the good news is you can have this one for quite a bit less and own an original! GLWTA!
