2.0L-Powered 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce

This 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce is powered by a retrofitted 2.0L inline-four that was rebuilt in 2024 with Motronic 10:1 pistons and Centerline high-lift camshafts. The motor features a European-specification intake manifold, a 123ignition distributor, an electric cooling fan, and dual Weber DCOE 40 carburetors, and power is routed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car has been repainted in red and fitted with replacement tan upholstery, and additional features include an Aflaholics steering box, Centerline springs and shocks, slotted disc brakes, steel brake lines, 14″ Campagnolo Daytona wheels, and a Nardi steering wheel. The selling dealer acquired the car shortly after it was listed on BaT in March 2025 and tells us that subsequent work consisted of repainting the hood and trunk lid, changing the oil, resealing the differential, and replacing the door panels. This S2 Spider is offered with service records and a clean California title.
The Pininfarina-designed bodywork was refinished in Alfa Red (AR501) in 2014, and the hood and trunk lid were repainted under current ownership. Exterior details include a black canvas convertible top, a black top boot, dual side mirrors, and a central ANSA exhaust outlet. There is a dent in the left-front fender and chipped paint near the fuel-door hinges.
Campagnolo Daytona 14″ wheels are mounted with 185/70 Falken Pro G5 Touring A/S tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and anti-roll bars. The car has reportedly been modified with an Aflaholics steering box, Centerline springs and shocks, slotted brake discs, steel brake lines, and adjustable front arms. The tie-rod ends and center link were replaced in 2024, and the brake booster and left-front line were replaced in 2025.
The bucket seats were re-covered with replacement tan upholstery under prior ownership, and other appointments include replacement door panels, a wood shift knob, a heater, and a Sony CD stereo that is not connected to speakers. There is some wear on the inside of the convertible top.
The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames a dual-binnacle gauge cluster housing a Jaeger 8k-rpm tachometer and a 140-mph speedometer, while gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer is said to have been repaired in 2014 and now shows 65k miles, approximately 50 of which were added under current ownership. LED gauge lights have been installed in the instrument cluster. Speedometer-related work in 2022 consisted of replacing the cable and correctly reinstalling the transmission drive unit.

Looks a little rough around the edges, its missing the desirable spica unit and higher-strung 1750 engine, and the interior has been pieced together with what looks like a range of replacement parts, but I'm smitten. I hope the heater is in good working order since its chilly here in the Bay Area and I wouldn't ever put that top up.

It’s very likely they did fluid at this time.
Fuel system was most likely done when the engine was out for the rebuild around 2022

Seems all the 'non-original' mods are good upgrades - 2L with higher compression, carbs, euro airbox, 123, LSD, ANSI exhaust, Nardi. From experience all will noticably improve the driving enjoyment over stock. IMHO 1971 is best year, short of a boat tail. GLWTA

Looks like a nice car. However I'm always a little sceptical of driving videos where the guy doesn't seem to know how to drive the car he is in. It's an Alfa. I'm talking about 2300 rpm shifts.

@luxmotorcars please itemize repairs and upgrades since your possession and provide tire date codes. When was the last time that the fuel system was flushed through and same for the brakes. thanks, KRB
