I can understand your frustration with the Classiche process, but you do not need Classiche certification for the level of information that you are looking for. Production details, i.e. chassis and engine numbers, production date, equipment and other information on maintained in the Maserati Historical Archive. You can go the Archive website and enter the Chassis number to find out if the information is available in the Maserati Archives. Typically, there are three levels of detail information that are available, each level is about 1,000 Euros. You only need the basic level of information. It is possible that the photo in the Maserati Ghibli Registry for AM115.49.1954 is of another Ghibli, but the Registry photo shows a Ghibli with Borrani wheels and not the Campagnolo wheels on the auction car. The wheel hub mountings for the two wheel types are quite different and not easily interchangeable. The build configuation for vintage Maserati cars are easily obtained and, as others have noted, would be helpful to the seller and potential buyers.
