Presentation

Introduced for the 1989 model year, the Porsche 944 S2 topped the naturally aspirated 944 range with an enlarged 3.0-liter 16-valve four-cylinder, and it arrived in Cabriolet form for the first time. Finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior, this 1990 example is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, power windows, mirrors, and seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and 16" Design 90 cast alloy wheels. Previously cared for in Kansas and Nevada, this two-owner 944 S2 Cabriolet is now being offered for auction in California, showing approximately 97k miles on the odometer.

The 944 S2 features an integrated front spoiler with fog lights, a rear lip and underbody spoiler, and a lower, swept-back windshield. This example is finished in Guards Red with a power-retractable black soft top and rides on 16" Design 90 cast alloy wheels wrapped in staggered 205/55 front and 225/50 rear tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black leather interior features power-adjustable seats, heated mirrors, split-folding rear seats, a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, and automatic climate control. The seller notes the leather, dash, and door panels are free of cracks and tears, and that the power top and windows function properly, while the radio is inoperative and said to require rebuilding.

Power comes from a 3.0-liter 16-valve four-cylinder, which was factory rated at 208 HP and 207 lb-ft of torque, and drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Standard performance features include force-sensitive power steering, power-vented disc brakes with ABS, a front-engine, rear-transaxle layout with a central torque tube, and front and rear stabilizer bars. Service in 2006 included the water pump, camshaft and timing belts, and front struts and shocks, while a recent major service addressed all fluids, a new fuel filter, an oil and filter change, and spark plug service. The seller notes the odometer is inoperative; it displays approximately 97k miles, consistent with the reading recorded at a 2018 California smog inspection.

This sale will include a clean title, a complete set of owner's manuals and books, two keys, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, sales literature, and a leather front bra.

The seller would like you to know: "This is a great car that looks amazing. I've been driving it through the hills of Malibu, and it handles great and pulls hard. The Cabriolet is a unique car in the local lineup, and not many people get to enjoy the top-down feeling."

@Spokayman hi from what I can tell. the cars odometer was working up until the last big services in 2026. In 2020 the service receipts show an odometer reading at 96,775. The car fax show a smog in 2018 with 96,300 miles. I feel strongly that the millage is in the 97,800 range.

@buzzwaxmalibu,
-Can you provide more clarity on the inoperative odometer? When, how many miles added over the inop years, etc?
-Do you have any recent (or not so recent) maintenance records? If the last timing belt was 20+ years ago, yikes.
