Presentation
Debuting at the 1948 Paris Motor Show, the Citroën 2CV represented a revolutionary approach to mass-market motoring, combining front-wheel drive, an air-cooled horizontally opposed twin-cylinder engine, and a highly compliant suspension system in a minimalist platform designed to meet the transportation needs of postwar France. This 1976 Citroën 2CV6 Special spent its first 29 years in France before being imported to Canada in 2005, where it underwent an increase in engine displacement from 602cc to 652cc. This iconic French automobile is now being offered for auction in Montreal.
Finished in Petrel Blue (AC-643), this 2CV showcases a full-length retractable canvas roof, white-painted bumpers, round headlamps, dual chrome mirrors, a rear luggage rack, front mudflaps, and white 15” steel wheels. The seller notes the exterior remains in very good overall condition apart from a small scratch on the right rear quarter panel, and a cold-weather grille cover is included in the sale.
The cabin features brown vinyl bench seating accompanied by a matching brown dashboard and door panels. Accessories include a wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a Veglia speedometer, and an under-dash Kenwood CD stereo paired with aftermarket speakers.
The air-cooled flat-twin engine was rebuilt and enlarged from 602cc to 652cc in 2005 using a VGS upgrade kit with forged pistons. Power is sent to the front wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission, while braking is facilitated by front disc and rear drum brakes. The seller reports that routine maintenance and oil changes have been kept up to date since the refurbishment.
This sale will include a cold-weather grille cover, a car cover, sales literature, and a Canadian registration.
