1958 Porsche 356A Speedster

This 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster was imported to Europe in 2008 and remained in Denmark until 2014. It was then sold to a German collector, who commissioned over €32k (~$37k USD) of work in 2020, including a reupholstered interior, refreshes of the brakes and fuel system, along with a reseal of the replacement 1.6-liter flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle. The car is finished in Silver Metallic over red leather and is equipped with a black canvas soft top, removable side curtains, 15″ steel wheels, and fixed-back bucket seats. This Speedster was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026 and is now offered in Germany with records from the 2020 service, TÜV documents, and a Florida title.

The Reutter-built body is finished in Silver Metallic and was repainted in 2014 in Denmark. Replacement headlights were installed in 2020, and features include a removable black canvas soft top, dual side mirrors, removable side curtains, and body-color bumpers. The selling dealer notes a scratch in the paint on the right rear side of the vehicle, a dent in the front right fender, and wear on the soft top.
The 15″ ventilated steel wheels were mounted with Vredestein tires in 2020. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner, which were overhauled in 2020. Adjustable Koni shocks are installed.
The fixed-back bucket seats were reupholstered in red leather in 2020, and replacement squareweave carpets were also installed.
The two-spoke steering wheel frames a central 6k-rpm tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil temperature and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 213 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four features an unstamped case and received replacement seals in 2020. The fuel system was also refreshed at that time, including replacement of the hoses and petcock, and additional work included servicing the electrical system and replacing the exhaust system, heat exchangers, heater valves, and heater cables.

This thread has covered shipping logistics better than most freight forwarders. On the car itself: is the engine and gearbox confirmed matching-numbers to the chassis, and has the floor pan or rockers ever needed rust repair?

@touchyu2 It’s, of course, also very practical, especially when speed is of the essence. Several years ago, we shipped 110 vehicles from South Korea to Germany – all by sea – without a single instance of damage.

@touchyu2 That’s right – painting silver isn’t always that great, but it really is just a tiny bit of damage that can be sorted out with Smart Repair.

Never send by sea if can be avoided air freight only way to go if a valuable car especially flying time one day and I have ner had any damage on my cars. I've sent to & from UK, Japan, OZ, EU probably at least a dozen cars not a single damage claim among them! Last one I did a rare Zagato bodied Porsche S90 from Milan to SFO in about 3 days total. Truck from Italy 1 day to London, UK to SFO overnight and few hours to our race / restoration shop. Cost like $35-$40k
including duty of then 2.5% now more. Not a scratch on her beautiful body! THC

Shame about the RF fender hard to paint that metallic silver and blend it in!. BTW I noticed the wheels are NOT the standard stamped steel wheels. They are I am sure the rare hard to find Campanolo Italian aluminum wheels that
are very much thicker under the lug nuts much stronger and lighter they say & especially much better looking wheels with subtly different shape to the holes. Bonus wheels!

@Dan512 Unfortunately, there aren’t any photos of this. All I can say is that, according to the report we’ve had drawn up, the paint thickness ranges from 140 to 3,000 in a single spot; in most places it’s around 200 to 400.

Wheels certainly look like alloy, not steel. 15” steel wheels from Porsche would have had holes for drum brake shoe adjustment; these do not; nor do they have raised “lip” on interior circumference that a steel one would have. Please clarify the description of these wheels.
